SALISBURY — Authorities identified two teenagers who they said were involved in a shooting near Linn Lane and Old Wilkesboro Road on Wednesday.
Salisbury Police charged 17-year-old Romello Christopher Ford and 19-year-old Zakelo Staton-Maurice Duren, both of West Horah Street, after officers said the two ran from police.
Two detectives heard five or six shots, according to police reports, and saw the teenagers look toward the officers and then run.
After a brief chase on foot, the two were taken into custody. Arrest reports said officers also located a handgun at the scene.
Ford was charged with misdemeanor failure to appear, resisting arrest and felony illegally carrying a concealed weapon. Offenders charged with a felony concealed weapon charge have been previously convicted of a concealed weapon offense, police said.
He was placed in Rowan County jail under a $3,000 bond.
Police charged Duren with resisting arrest. He was placed under a $1,000 bond.
In the report, officers said, “Duren resisted by failing to obey the command to get on the ground where he was tackled and then forced to bring his hands out from under him to be handcuffed.”
