Woodleaf Elementary School would like to congratulate the following students who have been selected as good citizens for December for demonstrating perseverance.

Austin Dean Barefoot, from Rockwell, graduated from University of North Carolina at Asheville in December.
Gardner-Webb University recently held its 2013 fall commencement exercises, where more than 550 students graduated. Graduates from the local region included Adam Suggs of Kannapolis, with a BS degree in biology; Teresa Bess of Salisbury, MA degree in executive leadership studies; and Marc Calderone of Salisbury, MA degree in executive leadership studies.
The following students were recognized as Explorers of the Week during December for demonstrating excellent behavior throughout the school at Overton Elementary School:
Kindergarten — Nevaeh Scales, Brooklynne Witherspoon and Mar-jah Spratt-White.
First grade — Aiden Palmore, Ana Blankenship and Pearl Chambers.
Second grade — Mariah Worthy, Ezekiel Kotee and Kimora Allison.
Third grade — Raja Blankenship, Donavan Miller and Ahmiel Torrence.
Fourth grade — Marcus Cook, Piper Lasker and Deemeka Minor.
Fifth grade — Emma Sparger, Zariyah Thomas and Vance Honeycutt.
Congratulations also to the students who demonstrated positive behavior on buses 164 and 180 and were recognized as Buses of the Week and to the students on bus 170 who were recognized as Bus of the Month.
One Knollwood Elementary School student is selected from each class every month to be recognized for a character trait. The character trait for December is compassion. These students will receive a certificate and attend the quarterly social.

Hanford-Dole Elementary has recognized the following students as the January Good Citizens for the character trait of good judgement. Each student received a certificate and had his/her picture on the Good Citizen Bulletin Board in the hall for the month.
