SALISBURY — Police investigators are looking for a teen they believe may be connected to a number of break-ins that occurred in neighborhoods near the Hefner V.A. Medical Center during the Christmas holiday.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Demetri Tyrone Barber, 18, whose last known address is 502 S. Shaver St., is asked to contact the Salisbury Police. Barber, who also goes by the nickname “Meatball” is 6 feet tall and weighs 160 pounds.
Officials don’t believe Barber is tied to similar break-ins of houses that occurred a few weeks before Christmas in the area of West Horah Street and Brenner Avenue. But they do suspect he is connected to break-ins that occurred on West Corriher Avenue, South Link Avenue and Ackert Avenue, near the VA Medical Center.
Barber faces felony charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, larceny and breaking and entering.
During those break-ins, police say, thieves took electronics, jewelry, food and other items.
Another man, Arthur James Jackson III, was caught Monday morning outside a West Horah Street home with items taken from a nearby home. Jackson, 38, had a purse and other items that were taken in a drawstring bag. Jackson remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Investigators don’t believe the two men were working together.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
