Here’s a photograph from the Salisbury Post files taken during the Christmas shopping season in December 1985 — 28 years ago. You are looking east on East Innes Street in Salisbury, with the Lee Street intersection closest to you and Interstate 85 in the distance. While Hardiman Furniture (near right), Foil Motors (the Plymouth/ Chrysler dealer on the right), the Food Lion store at Long Street, Village Inn and Godfather’s Pizza are no longer in business, places such as Goodyear, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Hardees, Burger King and Firestone still are.
