Top players: North is balanced, but seniors Michael Bowman (13.3 ppg.) and Michael Connor (11.3) and sophomore Jalen Sanders (13.0) are special players despite relatively modest stats.

Coach: Mike Gurley (17th year at West, 348-114 at West, 450 career victories, four Moir titles)
Top players: Long-range guy Seth Martin (13.8) has been a consistent scorer. Celexus Long (11.8) was sensational in the Moir last season. Devin Parks (10.7) has six double-figure outings. Najee Tucker (9.0) is a top-notch rebounder and defender.

No. 3 Carson
Record: 6-3
Season record vs. Moir teams: 5-1 (lost to West)
All-time record in Moir: 9-10
Coach: Brian Perry (8th year, 80-107)
Top players: Muscular guard Tre Williams (17.1) and big man Colton Laws (17.4) are Rowan’s top two scorers. Both seniors score inside and out. Williams scored 37 against Central Cabarrus and has 936 career points. Slasher Marquez McCain (10.5) also is providing consistent offense.
Moir titles: 0. Carson has yet to make the title game but has won two tournament games each of the last two years.

No. 4 Salisbury
Record: 6-3
Season record vs. Moir teams: 1-3 (two losses to Carson)
All-time record in Moir: 62-38
Coach: Jason Causby (9th year, 137-90). He’s coached three Moir champs.
Top players: Sophomore guard DeShawn Troutman (15.9) has scored 20 or more points three times, and the Hornets are 3-0 in those games. Nimble sophomore widebody D.J. Alexander (12.9) can be a force inside, while senior John Canipe (5.4) is outstanding defensively.
Moir titles: 14
Last title: 2010 (Darien Rankin MVP). That was Salisbury’s most recent title game appearance.

No. 5 South Rowan
Record: 3-5
Season record vs. Moir teams: 0-2
All-time record in Moir: 44-57
Coach: Bryan Withers (2nd year, 14-19)
Top players: Senior guard Shawn Spry (14.7) and junior guard Qwan Rhyne (13.8) can handle the ball and score, and forward T’Vadis Graham-Wesley (8.4) is an astounding shotblocker for someone 6-foot-2.
Moir titles: 1 (1995, Jason Crook MVP)
Last title game appearance: Lost to West in 2002

No. 6 East Rowan
Record: 3-6
Season record vs. Moir teams: 1-2
All-time record in Moir: 38-59
Coach: Trey Ledbetter (4th year, 23-55)
Top players: Senior guard Donte Means (15.2) is still scoring in bunches. East dropped a string of close games before sophomore Naquis Caldwell erupted for 25 points in the win against West. If Caldwell can sustain that sort of performance, East becomes a pretty good team.
Moir titles: 2
Last Moir title: 2006 (Spenser Davis MVP). That was also East’s last appearance in the title game.

No. 7 Davie County

All-time record in Moir vs. Rowan teams: 38-43
Coach: Mike Absher (12th season, 3 Moir championships)
Top player: Peyton Sell averages 21.6 points per game and has had outbursts of 33 and 42 points. A shooter with good quickness and height (6-2) Sell has made as many as nine 3s in a game.
Moir titles: 5
Last Moir title: Davie thumped North 71-46 for the crown in 2012 to break an eight-year drought, but all five starters are gone.
