Evergreen Fridays are full of fun, friendship, food and fantastic hands

Our Evergreen Fridays have been full of fun, friendship, food and fantastically distributional hands.
Players are frequently heard verbally asking,” where do these hands come from?” I have to admit it is I who is guilty.
The decks are shuffled seven times and dealt. It’s that simple. No computers enter into the picture. Many times I wish they did — then there would be a print out for players to study.
Friday Nov. 22, we had six tables in play.
Winners were: First, Chuck and Margaret Rimer; second, Pat Featherston and Dick Brisbin; third, BettyBonner Steele and Betty Bills; fourth, Ruth Bowles and Marie Pugh; fifth, Ron Jeffers and Loren Parkinson.
The featured board is getting harder to pick. The scores are typically in the same direction making a comparison of N/S-E/W impossible.
Board No. 9 is highlighted. The Bryant/Bare pair had the best N/S score bidding and making 3NS+1, while the Lowder/Hill pair had the best E/W score bidding and making 1NE. It’s not clear why the N/S pair didn’t bid in that instance.
The South hand could have doubled making partner bid but South could have figured he would set vulnerable E/W making a better score.
