South Rowan High Schools’ Foods I students and their Rock the House Gingerbread Club recently competed in the National Gingerbread Competition in Asheville at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
Six students represented their three entries. Sharon Edwards and Wanda Taylor were the advisers for the group. One entry was a beautiful white and blue creation, the “Ice Palace” with penguins and a polar bear. It was designed and created by Mason White, Daniel Pope and Kendall Howard. The second was a “Purr-fect Christmas” designed and created by Abygail Rohletter, Kailah Bradshaw, and Bethany Roberson.
The third was 12 different houses made by Edwards’ Foods I students that represented each month and put all together to make the theme “Keep The Spirit All Year Long.” Abby Blume represented the team for that entry. “Keep The Spirit All Year Long” came home from a fierce competition with a Top 10 ribbon.
In the seven years that South Rowan and Corriher Lipe students have competed they have received first place once, second place once, and have had a top 10 entry all the other years. The entries and almost 200 others can be seen until Jan. 4 at the Grove Park Inn.
