Snowflakes fell in downtown Salisbury and in other parts of Rowan County today.
The wintry weather sets the stage for the 54th annual Holiday Caravan Parade, which begins at 2 p.m. in Spencer and at 3 p.m. in Salisbury. The parade will be broadcast live at 3 p.m. on Fibrant channel 17.

The National Weather Service forecast says the chance for showers and snow will end before 3 p.m. in Rowan County, with clearing skies to follow.
The high is expected to be in the low 40s, but winds will continue from the northwest and be about 14 miles an hour with gusts as high as 24 mph.
The clearing skies will bring in cold temperatures again, with an overnight low in the mid 20s.
Thanksgiving Day is to be sunny with a high in the mid 40s.
