Deputies arrest one suspect, seek another on drug charges

On Nov. 20, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the East Spencer Police Department concluded an investigation into the sale of crack cocaine at 205 N. Long St., East Spencer, with the execution of a search warrant at that address. During the search, investigators seized approximately 9 grams of crack cocaine and 1 gram of powder cocaine, along with assorted drug paraphernalia.
Jeffrey Lewis Sullivan, 50, who lives at 205 N. Long St., was present during the search and was charged with possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep and store controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $25,000 secured bond.
A second resident of 205 N. Long St., John Thomas Hipps, 51, was not present during the search. Investigators have secured warrants for his arrest, charging him with possession with intent to sell cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep and store controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
