A man on the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office most wanted list for a number of firearm thefts was arrested in Maryland.
Richard Edward Burns, 25, of Kannapolis, was placed on the most wanted list in September for larceny. He was arrested in Maryland and charged with breaking into several storage buildings there.
In March 2012, Burns was convicted of felony breaking and entering and was convicted again in May of felony larceny of firearms and breaking and entering.
In early 2012, Burns was charged with breaking into dozens of storage units in Cabarrus and Stanly counties and in China Grove and Kannapolis. He was caught after his vehicle was found backed up to a fence at an Airport Road storage facility.
Burns remains in a Maryland jail. Officials are waiting for Burns to be extradited back to Rowan County.
