In an effort to improve visitors’ travels, the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the rest area on I-85 North at mile marker 59 in Concord Monday, Oct. 28, weather permitting. The rest area is scheduled to reopen Friday, Nov. 8.
During the closure, crews will mill and resurface the exit ramp from I-85 North to the facility, as well as the 84 parking spaces for tractor-trailers and smaller vehicles. Once the resurfacing work is complete, new paint markings and pavement markers will be placed on the road surface.
Motorists traveling north on I-85 can access other rest areas at mile marker 2 in Cleveland County or at mile marker 99 in Davidson County.
