Cornerstone Church on Webb Road will host an anti-bullying event on Thursday.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will be 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The purpose of the event is to bring greater awareness of bullying to the community, the church said in a news release.
Speakers will include Scottie Safrit, the father of Daniel Safrit, an Erwin Middle School student who took his own life Sept. 27. His parents said he had been bullied at school.
Also speaking will be Megan Braun, a North Rowan High School student and teen peace ambassador for National Voices for Equality, Education and Enlightenment.
There will also be music and dance, the news release said.
Cornerstone is at 315 Webb Road. Previously, a group had announced an event there Thursday with tickets costing $5, but the church’s news release said this event is now free and open to the public.
