The Salisbury Fire Department was established on Dec. 8, 1817 and is rich in tradition and history. A fire prevention parade was an annual event in Salisbury from the mid-1950s through the early 1980s. The tradition was revived this year in observance of Salisbury Rowan Fire Prevention Week, with a fire truck parade up Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 5.
