A Spencer woman remains in the county jail after police say she threw bleach into another woman’s face in late September.
The Salisbury Police charged Mechelle Marciunna Glenn, 24, of the 500 block of Oakwood Drive on Friday with felony malicious throwing of corrosive acid, misdemeanor probation violation, misdemeanor failure to appear from August and misdemeanor failure to appear from Stanly County in July.
The victim, Chandra Ramsey, told police on Sept. 30 she was standing at Standish Street and Brenner Avenue with her two stepsisters after midnight. The two stepsisters began to fight and Ramsey tried to break up the fight. Ramsey said Glenn approached her with a cup in each hand and tossed the contents into Ramsey’s face.
The cups contained bleach, which Ramsey said, got into her eyes and mouth.
She was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where she was treated for eye inflammation, said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
Ramsey’s eyes were flushed. She was treated and released from the hospital.
The relationship between Ramsey and Glenn is unclear. Glenn remains in the county jail under a $10,975 secured bond.
Glenn has pending charges in Stanly County in November overmisdemeanor larceny and a show cause hearing. She is also expected to be in a Rowan County courtroom later this month on a charge of misdemeanor larceny.
Glenn was previously convicted of simple assault in January 2008, simple assault in October 2009, as well as driving while license revoked, carrying a concealed weapon, driving after consuming by a person younger than 21.
