Southeast Middle to host Patriot Blast of Color 5K

Southeast Middle School will host the first Patriot Blast of Color on Oct. 26. This is a 5K walk/run to raise awareness of cancer and begin Relay For Life events.
The event was created based on an idea to connect the community with the cause. Southeast Principal Jennifer Lentz promoted this event. A volunteer committee of eight teachers (Watts, Walker, London, Miller, Bernard, Williamson, Doby and Holman) have brought her vision to life.
Rain or shine, the run/walk will begin at Southeast at 10 a.m. and will not be timed. It will be led by Kimberli Doby, a SEMS teacher battling cancer.
As participants complete kilometers, they will be doused with colored powder. The completion of the race will include a DJ celebration as participants blast each other with colors.
Price is $12 per participant. Forms can be picked up at Southeast Middle or downloaded from http:// model.rss.k12.nc.us/groups/mrsaprilwilliamson/wiki/12150/Southeast_Color_Blast_5K.html
