Man charged with trying to run over woman

SALISBURY — A Granite Quarry man was arrested Sunday and charged with allegedly trying to run over a woman with a car.
Billy Lee Lowe, 20, of West Bank Street, is charged with a single count of assault with a deadly weapon for the incident which allegedly occurred on Sunday.
According to the arrest report, Lowe allegedly assaulted a woman by attempting to strike her with the front of a vehicle.
Lowe was being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on Sunday pending a bond hearing set for this morning.
His first appearance in court is set for Oct. 21 at 9 a.m.
Salisbury woman charged with trafficking meth
SALISBURY — A Salisbury woman was arrested Saturday and charged for allegedly possessing 48 grams of methamphetamine.
Christine Huffman, of Deal Creek Drive, Salisbury, is also charged with attempting to destroy evidence, described in arrest reports as “a plastic bed of crystal-liked substance” associated with a felony drug charge.
Huffman was being held Sunday on $100,000 bond at the Rowan County Detention Center.
Her first appearance in District Court is set for Tuesday morning.
