Allison 11th; Collins wins

Justin Allison was 11th in his ARCA debut on Friday at Kansas Speedway.
Allison (West Rowan) finished the Kansas Lottery 98.9 race and achieved a top speed of 170. 557 mph.
Will Collins (Salisbury) won the EGolf Tour’s Salisbury Classic that concluded at the Country Club of Salisbury.
The former Virginia star shot 68-65-64 — 197 to finish 16-under along with Dustin Bray.
Collins won with a birdie on the third playoff hole.
Collins won $15,000.
In his final round, Collins birdied 1,3,7, 10, 11 and 13.
“The people that play golf here know that on the back nine, you can bomb driver on almost every hole,” Collins said. “There’s some trouble out there, but there’s no reason not to play aggressively, and that’s what I did.”
Collins has thre straight top-10 finishes on the tour and moved up to 12th in earnings.
Salisbury won again in CCC golf earlier this week, shooting 116 at Sapona to top West Davidson (144), East Davidson (156) and Lexington (172).
Grace Yatawara was medalist with a 38. Isabella Rusher and Madeline Hoskins shot 39s for the Hornets. Rachel Mast’s 44 led West Davidson.
West Davidson swept Lexington on Thursday to keep pace with North Rowan in CCC volleyball.
The teams enter the final week of the regular season tied with 7-1 league records.
North is home against Thomasville Tuesday and at third-place Salisbury (6-2) Thursday.
West Davidson hosts Salisbury Tuesday and is at East Davidson on Thursday.
• The CCC tournament starts Monday, Oct. 14. The top two finishers will have first-round byes.
• Wednesday’s East Rowan at Salisbury non-conference match will be a “Pink Out” to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
Everyone is encouraged to wear pink. Survivors will be recognized between the jayvee and varsity games.
Erwin’s softball team (7-3) rolled 16-0 against North Rowan Middle.
Anna Shafer and Lanie Fulk had two hits each to lead an eight-hit attack. Shafer struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter.
Carson-Newman beat Catawba 3-1 on Friday in SAC volleyball.
Emily Richardson led Catawba with 10 kills.
• Aimee Cloninger (Carson) had 12 kills and four aces to lead unbeaten Catawba Valley Community College to a sweep of Cape Fear CC.
Tiffany Brooks (South Rowan) had seven kills.
• Lenoir-Rhyne swept Coker. Kayla Morrow (South) had four kills and two blocks.
• Averett’s Nicole Barringer (South) had 31 assists, nine digs and four kills in a sweep of Greensboro.
