The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a confirmed fatal wreck near China Grove. The crash occurred sometime before 9:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of N.C. 152 west.
Frank Greene, spokesman for Atwell Fire Department confirmed the collision involved a tractor-trailer and a moped. He was unsure of how the crash occurred, but he said Atwell Fire Department were first to the scene.
According to emergency communications, the tractor-trailer may have struck a utility pole.
Greene said the road was reopened to traffic about 12:30 p.m. Traffic was detoured after the wreck. A Post reporter tried to get to the scene, but she was turned away by fire personnel.
Atwell Fire Department was aided by Enochville and South Iredell fire departments.
“The Fire Department does have the families involved in our thoughts and prayers,” Greene said.
