RALEIGH (AP) — Triad motorists will have a better idea how to get around the area thanks to a project which adds to the network of traffic cameras.
A project by the N.C. Department of Transportation to upgrade the region’s traffic camera network is nearly complete. Workers have installed 76 new cameras, and by the end of next week, there will be 168 cameras keeping an eye on the streets and highways around Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem.
The addition of the new cameras calls for a video switch to be upgraded. This means all Triad traffic cameras are going offline on Wednesday and Thursday. When the upgrade is done, the cameras will come back online and images will gradually return. Pictures from all cameras are expected to be available by Oct. 11.
