At least seven buildings along Georgetown’s historic Front Street were damaged by fire this morning.
Georgetown firefighters were called at 5:23 a.m. The fire has spread to seven or eight buildings, said Sam Hodge, director of emergency management.
Additional fire departments are on the scene and the U.S. Coast Guard is helping by sending boats to the harbor, Hodge said.
The Georgetown Times, a sister paper to the Post, is posting updates, as is the Post and Courier of Charleston, S.C.
