Carolina Artists announce contest winners

The Carolina Artists held its annual art competition, exhibition and sale, dubbed Expo 2013 , at the Salisbury Civic Center last month.
Almost 40 artists participated and more than $1,000 in prizes was awarded.
The People’s Choice Award, decided by the highest number of votes submitted by expo participants, went to Connie Peninger for “ I Said a Prayer for You, Today.”
The Carolina Artists sincerely thank judges Leslie Hudson- Tolles and Bruce Wilson.
Hudson- Tolles recently moved to Rowan County from Connecticut.
Throughout her career, she has worked in various media including drawing, printmaking, pastels, and sculpture.
She has receive numerous other awards and has been featured on the covers of various equestrian magazines, and her work has been shown and collected throughout the country.
She is a full-time artist currently living in Cleveland; and serves as an art educator at Sacred Heart School.
Wilson has been serving artists and art collectors for more than 35 years.
He began his framing career in 1975, working with Frame it Yourself to supplement his artist income.
After working in custom picture framing shops, he opened his first retail business in 1978 which grew into Arts Aspects in Charlotte.
In 1995, the Wilsons opened their second location, in Salisbury.
The Fine Frame Gallery is located in downtown Salisbury at 105 S. Main St.
