North Rowan’s 8th-gradefootball team won 14-8 in overtime against Knox.
Xavier Haley rushed for a touchdown, and Jaden Jones added the 2-point conversion.
Jerrin Smith intercepted a pass to stop Knox’s overtime possession. McGwire Smith scored on a sneak on fourth down for the deciding points.
North is at Erwin this week.
Catawba evened its SAC record by winning 3-1 at Brevard on Saturday. Catawba (1-3, 1-1) got 11 kills each from Alex Hopper and Bri Howard. Kaytee Frabotta had 36 assists.
Catawba’s women’s soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw with Anderson on Saturday. Alex Hulsey and Emily Auwarter scored for the Indians.
Catawba’s men placed second and Catawba’s women were third in Saturday’s Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Nathan Hatley (17:26), Matt Jordan-Steele (17:47) and Alex Griffin (18:05) had top-10 finishes for the Catawba men. Olivia Myers (21:30) and Erica Boles (21:53) had top-10s for the women.
Devan Purvis (Carson) ran 25:36.
