CHINA GROVE — The Price of Freedom Museum’s annual 9/11 Remembrance Day will feature new artwork related to Sept. 11, 2001, by John Hartley.
The 9/11 Remembrance Day will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the museum, located at Weaver and Patterson roads.
Hartley has close to 100 military-themed paintings on loan and hanging at the museum, which is the old Patterson School. Many of the pieces adorn the walls of the school building’s central hall.
Hartley has made an additional eight paintings related to Sept. 11, 2001, available for Saturday’s Remembrance Day, whose theme is “Memories of Yesteryears.”
“They are something else,” museum cofounder and curator Bobby Mault says of Hartley’s 9/11 paintings. “… People really need to see that.”
If weather permits, the paintings will be displayed outside during the 10 a.m. flag-raising
Restored farm equipment and vehicles will be part of the exhibits Saturday, when visitors can see the progress of the museum’s development, Mault says the past year has brought a lot of changes.
A “Backyard BBQ” will be sponsored and sold by We Care Ministry of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
