Man injured when lightning strikes house
A southern Rowan County man was injured Monday evening when lightning struck his house.
Emergency responders were called to a home in the 1100 block of N.C. 152, near Kress Venture Drive, around 6:30 p.m. Monday to check on a man reportedly struck by lightning.
According to emergency personnel, the man was not directly struck, but was injured when lightning struck the house and a charge ran through the structure. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast for treatment.
The responders were sent to the home at 6:24 p.m. and left at 6:50 p.m. Emergency dispatcher supervisors say no CPR was administered while emergency responders where there.
Few details were available Tuesday, including the name of the man who was injured.
Rowan County EMS and Bostian Heights Fire Department responded to the call.
