Women sought after vehicle break-ins

Rowan Sheriff’s investigators have released ATM photos of two women accused of using stolen bank cards taken from a number of vehicle break-ins throughout July at area recreation facilities.

One woman has short blond hair and is seen in a video still taken July 26. Another woman with shoulder length dark hair is seen in a video still on July 30. Authorities believe the dark-haired woman is an accomplice and was “using stolen items for financial gain,” a department press release said.

The break-ins occurred July 14 at Kannapolis Recreation Park, 2225 Fowler St.

Several cars were targeted that day. The victims reported that among items taken were bank cards and other financial information.

One victim’s bank card and North Carolina driver’s license were used at the CommunityOne Bank at the corner of Jake Alexander and Statesville boulevards. The teller noticed the bank card had been reported stolen and seized the card and the license. The bank returned the card and license to the owner.

Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford said it is possible the latest break-ins are tied to a number of vehicle break-ins during the same week at Dan Nicholas Park and in Concord at J.W. McGee Jr. Park on Corban Avenue.

CommunityOne Bank and other banks say the same women may be involved in similar cases in numerous counties in the area. Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Detective Billy Basinger 704-216-8682, Lt. Chad Moose 704-216-8687 or Crime Stoppers 1-866-639-5245.
