SALISBURY —Students at North Hills Christian School (NHCS) will return to school next week.
Wednesday is the first day of school for North Hills, and orientation will be held on Monday.
Families interested in applying are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. An additional middle school section has been added to accommodate increased demand for grades 6-8.
Enhancements to the school’s overall educational program for this year include the introduction of more Classical Christian elements, literature selections to compliment history instruction for grades 1-10, new technology enhancements for elementary and middle school students, and the launch of a pilot high school program – The Honors Academy at North Hills Christian School.
Last year the history curriculum for all elementary students shifted to classical. This year the history curriculum for middle school students will change to classical. Freshmen and sophomores will now study Western Civilization I & II.
For middle and high school students, North Hills offers Latin and Spanish, Advanced Placement and honors classes. It also offers a tablet PC program for all high school students, competitive athletics and a fine arts program.
The lower school program for grades 1-5 will continue to offer tiered instruction and ability grouping for reading and math. Students will receive instruction in Latin and Spanish, classical history, art, chorus and Bible.
This summer, faculty and staff members at NHCS attended the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS) conference in Atlanta. The focus of the conference was to provide more information about the benefits of Classical Christian schooling, to provide training and instruction, and to provide a forum for the discussion of ideas among faculty and administrators from across the nation who are using the classical method.

The school was established in 1967 and is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Leslie Pullen serves as Associate Head of School. Families may apply for tuition assistance.
