Fall Wildlife Expo set for Aug. 17 in Mount Ulla

MOUNT ULLA — A Fall Wildlife Expo will be held Aug. 17 at West Rowan Farm, Home & Garden, 11575 N.C. Highway 801.
Store owners Brian and Elsie Bennett are working with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and other agencies to offer hunter and gun safety education The event also will be used to collect dry food goods for Rowan Helping Ministries.
The Bennetts have invited local, hunting-related businesses to participate.
“This event will offer local resources for everything that has to do with hunting,” Elsie Bennett said. “… There will be local vendors, door prizes, freebies, hunting education, live bluegrass music, games, food and fun for the whole family. We are expecting at least 1,000.”
Vendor set-up will be from 7-10 a.m. Aug. 17, and the event opens to the public at 10 a.m.
Here are some of the things scheduled:
• 10 a.m. — Freebies for the first 300 people — tote bags and hunter hats.
• 10 a.m.-5 p.m. — Food Drive to benefit Rowan Helping Ministries, located at the welcome tent.
• 11 a.m. — seminar, “Plant Now & Feed for the Big Hunt.”
• noon — lunch.

• noon-2 p.m. — bluegrass music.
• 2 p.m. — Concealed handgun permit, one-on-one.
• 3 p.m. — session, “Feeding Your Hunt.”
