A Salisbury man was killed early this morning in a motorcycle wreck on Long Ferry Road.
Dennis Ray Cochell, 51, of Lilian Circle, was traveling west on Long Ferry Road around 5:12 a.m. when he crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left, a N.C. State Highway Patrol report said.
The motorcycle struck a ditch and Cochell was thrown off into a culvert. He was not wearing a helmet.
The motorcycle came to rest in the yard of a home at 1605 Long Ferry Road.
Cochell was going about 40 mph in a 45 mph zone when he lost control of the motorcycle and had slowed to 35 mph when he hit the ditch, the report said. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
No other vehicles were involved.
It is unclear what made Cochell cross the center line.
Trooper J.P. Page investigated the crash.
