GRANITE QUARRY — Incumbent Alderman Brad Kluttz, whose seat on the town board is up for election this year, said Friday he will have a write-in candidacy.
Kluttz was not among the five candidates who signed on during the official filing period ending July 19. The seats of Kluttz and Eloise Peeler are up for election to four-year terms in November.
“I didn’t miss the deadline, I knew when it was,” Kluttz said. “I guess everybody assumed I was going to run.”
After Kluttz didn’t file, he had several people ask him to reconsider, meaning he won’t be on the official ballot but will wage a write-in campaign.
Kluttz, 48, has served two terms on the board, and he said Granite Quarry is in a much better place now than eight years ago.
The board, town manager and all the departments seem to be on the same page, the town’s finances are solid, “and I think the town right now is headed in the right direction for growth.”
Kluttz is a production manager for SupplyOne.
The other candidates for the two seats are Peeler, Michael Brinkley, Jake Fisher Jr., Wes Rhinier and Arin Wilhelm. A story on their candidacies will run in the future.
