St. Matthew’s Lutheran announces 28 scholarship awards

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church scholarships for 2013-14 have been awarded to 28 members of St. Matthew’s.
All college scholarships are $500 per semester, $1,000 for the year; and vocational/technical college scholarships are $250 per semester, $500 for the year. Total scholarships awarded for 2013-14 is $24,000.
• Jonathan Clark Agner, son of Tim and Mary Jo Agner of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a junior at Western Carolina University this fall majoring in emergency medicine. (Renewal $1,000)
• Sarah Caroline Agner, daughter of Tim and Mary Jo Agner of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a freshman at University of North Carolina at Charlotte this fall. (New $1,000)
• Lauren Elizabeth Allen, daughter of Lorrie and Bob Allen of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High School and will attend Rowan-Cabarrus Community College this fall. (Renewal $500)
• Whitley Shay Barrier, daughter of Ronnie and Shalyn Barrier of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a senior at RCCC this fall, majoring in nursing. (Renewal $500)
• Meridith Katelyn Brown, daughter of Stephen and Earlene Brown of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High School and will be a freshman at Coastal Carolina University this fall, majoring in marine and environmental science. (New $1,000)
• Noel Sadie Buie, daughter of Phyllis Buie of Gold Hill and Randall Buie of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a freshman at RCCC this fall, majoring in early childhood elementary education. (New $500)
• Carsen Elizabeth Byrd, daughter of Jim and Julie Byrd of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will attend Central Piedmont Community College this fall, pursuing a career as a physical therapist assistant. (Renewal $500)
• Jacob Heilig Byrd, son of Jim and Julie Byrd of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a junior at N.C. State University this fall majoring in forestry management. (Renewal $1,000)
• Shane Michael Campbell, son of Debbie Campbell of Salisbury, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a junior at RCCC this fall majoring in criminal justice. (Renewal $500)
• Emily Michelle Cleveland, daughter of Richard and Chris Cleveland of Gold Hill, is a graduate of East Rowan High and will be a freshman at UNC-Wilmington this fall, majoring in psychology. (New $1,000)
• Richard Cleveland III, son of Richard and Chris Cleveland of Gold Hill, is a graduate of East Rowan High School and will be a senior at NCSU this fall, majoring in aerospace engineering. (Renewal $1,000)
