Jeremy Hasty returned, charged

A Rowan County man who fled to Michigan and is a suspect in the shooting of two people on Hawkinstown Road has been extradited to Rowan County. Jeremy Wayne Hasty, 23, of Spencer, was taken into custody late last week in Clinton, Mich. He was returned to Rowan County July 20 and faces charges of two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Hasty after identifying him as a suspect in the shooting. A Rowan County grand jury also indicted Hasty on the charges.
On June 30, Rowan County sheriff’s deputies responded to a scene where they found a 22-year-old man and 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds. A bullet also entered a home in the area, narrowly missing one of the residents inside.
Hasty is currently on probation. He remains in the Rowan County jail under a $350,000 secured bond.
