The N.C. Department of Transportation and contractor Lane Construction will stage a rolling road block on I-85 near Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) at 3 a.m. Thursday, weather permitting. The work is part of the 6.8-mile, I-85 widening project, improving I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73.
Crews will provide the rolling road block for a utility company to safely install a new fiber line over the interstate, and flaggers will assist with traffic control on the entrance ramp from Bruton Smith Boulevard to I-85 North. The work should be completed in less than 30 minutes.
