Two challengers and an incumbent have filed for election so far this week.
Kenneth Blake Jarman filed for a Salisbury City Council seat Tuesday. He ran unsuccessfully in 2009 and 2011.
Jarman joins incumbents Maggie Blackwell, Paul Woodson Jr. and challenger William Peoples, who have previously filed for the five council seats up for grabs this year.
Barbara Crowder Doby filed for a China Grove town council seat Monday.
Doby faces incumbents Charles Seaford and Brandon Linn, along with fellow challenger Butch Bivens for the three open China Grove seats.
Tony B. Corriher filed for election in the Landis aldermen race Tuesday.
Corriher, a former Landis aldermen, will try to unseat Dennis Brown or D. Craig Sloop, both of whom have filed for re-election. Dorland Abernathy is also vying for a Landis board seat.
The filing period will remain open until Friday at noon. Rowan County has 42 municipal seats up for grabs.
