Jimmie Hartline provided this April 1954 clipping from the Salisbury Post, which announces that the Hartline and Fisher Crown Service was open for business at West Innes Street and Mahaley Avenue.
The station, which a news story said was “the latest and most modern auto service center in town,” was operated by Jim Hartline (Jimmie’s dad) and Charlie Fisher. Superior Oil owned the station. Hartline and Fisher had moved from their former station at Link Avenue and West Innes.
This new Crown station was equipped with two lifts, six pumps “and has hot and cold running water throughout,” the newspaper said. Most recently, this spot was home for West Innes Exxon, which closed. Superior Oil now has plans to demolish the building and sell the property,
