In response to recent letters to the editor concerning traffic and safety along Statesville Boulevard, nothing has improved except the resurfacing.
What happened to the plan the city was pushing for? At one time, the city was pushing for a plan that included two bicycle lanes — going in each direction — and one lane of traffic in each direction, along with a turning lane. The NCDOT resurfaced Statesville Boulevard in late spring (2013); however, the traffic problem remains the same, and the speeding problem remains the same.
Nothing has been done to ensure the safety of those who use Statesville Boulevard and also those who live in and around Statesville Boulevard.

Salisbury

I love Faith’s Fourth of July Carnival. Or I did until this year. You see this year my husband became an amputee. And hoping for the best, me and him decided to head down to the Faith 4th of July carnival. I found that it was in no way handicapped accessible.
Handicapped parking, if they had any, wasn’t marked. The ramp for wheelchairs was too steep and ended in a grassy knoll. The midway wasn’t paved and had electrical extension cords across the walkway, which was clearly a tripping hazard.
I hope Faith corrects these problems so it can welcome all of it’s citizens, handicapped or not.

Salisbury
My brother, Joseph Cromer, passed away June 23 while at work at Norandal. I would like the people of Salisbury to know what a caring place he worked. This company catered food for the family and friends.
The amazing thing is that this company shut down on Thursday so co-workers could attend his funeral. It makes me so proud to know that my brother was so well-liked and respected that Norandal would do this.
Salisbury should be proud to have this company in the community.
