SALISBURY — The Animal Care Center of Salisbury will open a second full-service veterinary hospital this week.
The West Innes Animal Hospital at 1725 W. Innes St. opens Monday and will offer veterinary medicine, surgery, grooming, bathing, retail pet foods and heartworm and flea preventatives.
The new facility was built incorporating the old Direct gas station structure. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Veterinarians who work at the Animal Care Center of Salisbury at 1500 E. Innes St. will staff the new practice on a rotating basis. They include doctors Michael Miller IV, Jennifer Miller, Karla Bean, Melissa Euchner, Kristie Gingery, Janice Truemper, Carolyn Rivera, Rachel Goodknight, Timothy Steinman, Charles Steinman and Kelsey Marble.
No appointment is needed for veterinary services or bathing. The new practice offers state-of-the-art digital radiography, a surgical suite with ECG monitoring equipment and new laboratory equipment including blood chemistry and a CBC analyzer. Dental services are available.
Grooming for dogs and cats is by appointment only. The grooming facility features a walk-in tub for large dogs, new dryers and an outside play area with artificial turf.

Three Lutheran Services Carolinas employees from Salisbury were among seven winners of the organization’s Loyal Service Award, presented June 20 at LSC’s Trinity Village facility in Hickory.
Nominated by supervisors and co-workers, the winners are Anahi Ayon, Trinity Oaks dining services staff; Brenda Sheets, pharmacy technician; and Lynn Barringer, Trinity Oaks activity director.
Ayon was cited as one who consistently leads by example, has impeccable manners and is extremely service-oriented. Sheets was praised as being giving and selfless, a quiet leader who takes pride in doing her job well and strives to instill that same sense of pride in her co-workers through example. Barringer was described as a multi-talented team player, not only planning and executing activities but calming residents, serving meals, conducting tours and even shopping for residents on her own time.

Trager psychophysical integration was developed by Dr. Milton Trager as a gentle, movement-based modality for people who suffer from pain, stress, headaches, depression, injuries, sleep disorders and other conditions.
The client lies on a padded table in loose clothing while the practitioner utilizes gentle rocking, stretching and bouncing movement to the arms, legs, head and torso.
Trager is painless, and a session lasts about 90 minutes including both table work and self-care movements the client can do at home.

SALISBURY — Good Stuff collected 12 boxes of clothing, shoes and necessities and two boxes of food to donate to tornado victims in Oklahoma.
The business donated five bags of cloths and two boxes of shoes. Others helped with the effort, including Memories 1280 WSAT, WSTP 1490, Ministry for Life Church, Perfect Gift Ministries and Cross Winds Apartments.
The truck, provided by Operation Share the Love, left June 15 to make the delivery in Oklahoma.
Good Stuff, 220 S. Main St., is closing its Spencer location at the end of June.

STATESVILLE — Carolina Farm Credit employees donated more than $1,600 and 125 pounds of food to local food banks as a result of an employee food drive conducted during May.
The food drive was in cooperation with the NC Co-Op Council’s Early Harvest Food Drive. Employees were encouraged to donate $10 or 10 pounds of food and 30 out of 36 service centers met that goal. Proceeds were donated to local food banks chosen by each service center.
Carolina Farm Credit serves over 8,800 members with loans outstanding totaling more than $1.3 billion. Its service centers include ones in Salisbury, Albemarle and Concord.

Great Clips Inc. had the 10 millionth customer check in online this month.
The company reported 34 consecutive months of sales growth and 29 consecutive months of increased customer counts. 
Online check-in was introduced in 2011 and is available at 3,300 Great Clips salons, including one at Innes Street Market, Innes Street and Interstate 85 in the Lowe’s shopping center at 259 Faith Road, and at the Alexander Pointe Shopping Center next to Harris Teeter at 850 Jake Alexander Blvd.
