Catawba HR officer to serve on board

Larry Farmer, human resources officer at Catawba College, has been tapped to serve a three-year term on the board of directors of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). He will join the board on July 1.
Farmer has been a member of CUPA-HR since 1998 and began his service on the Southern Region board in 2005, which culminated with his appointment as chair in 2011-12. He is also active in the CUPA-HR North Carolina Chapter, currently serving as the corporate partner liaison on the chapter’s board of directors.
Farmer has more than 30 years of experience in the HR field, the past 15 of which have been spent in higher education. Prior to that, he worked in the textile industry.
CUPA-HR is higher ed HR. Its mission is to serve higher education by providing the knowledge, resources, advocacy and connections to achieve organizational and workforce excellence. The association’s membership is institution-based and includes 91 percent of all U.S. doctoral institutions, 77 percent of all master’s institutions, 57 percent of all bachelor’s institutions, and almost 600 two-year and specialized institutions.
