CHINA GROVE — Jackie Fargo, known in his pro-wrestling days as “The Fabulous One,” died today just two days shy of his 83rd birthday.
Fargo and his late brother, Sonny, who was known as “Roughhouse,” wrestled primarily with the National Wrestling Alliance in the 1950s into the 1970s.
Fargo originated “The Fargo Strut,” adapted and used by many wrestlers, even today.
Fargo won the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship three times and held tag-team gold championships 45 times in his career.
Fargo retired in the 1980s but made appearances into the 2000s.
