William Weaver Kesler

William Weaver Kesler III of Salisbury received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Weaver earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University in 2009.
Involved in orthopaedic surgery research throughout medical school, his work related to reducing complications in external fixator pins has been presented at local, regional, and national medical conferences, and he was a co-author on an article published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. Weaver’s research project won the Harold C. Pillsbury Award for outstanding clinical research at UNC’s Student Research Day in 2011.
During medical school, Weaver was awarded the Board of Governors medical scholarship, providing tuition and stipends to medical students who hold promising futures as successful physicians in North Carolina. He was a member of the John B. Graham Student Research Society and an active volunteer at the Student Health Action Coalition clinic in Carrboro.
In July, Weaver will begin an orthopaedic surgery residency program at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.
Weaver is the son of Bill and Linda Kesler of Salisbury and the brother of Joseph Kesler.
