STATESVILLE – EnergyUnited is warning area residents to be aware of people posing as EnergyUnited employees or contractors in an effort to access their homes. Several EnergyUnited members have reported recently receiving phone calls from people trying to set up in-home energy audit appointments on behalf of EnergyUnited.
“At this time EnergyUnited is not actively contacting members offering any type of energy audit,” said Kathleen Hart, EnergyUnited vice president of customer care. “If someone calls you or comes to your door claiming to work for EnergyUnited, ask for company identification or contact us immediately for further verification.”
Any resident who questions the legitimacy of a person claiming to work for or on behalf of EnergyUnited should call the cooperative at 1-800-522-3793 to report the suspicious activity or to confirm that an EnergyUnited employee has contacted them or is on site. Residents should also make contact with their local law enforcement agency.
