Rowan-Salisbury hires five principals

SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education hired five new principals Monday evening.
Julia Erdie will fill the vacancy left by Kelly Sparger at East Rowan High School. She is currently employed by Cabarrus County Schools as assistant principal of the new Cox Mill High School, built in 2008.
Dennis Hobbs, assistant principal at Carson High School, will transfer to China Grove Middle School as its principal.
Southeast Middle School assistant principal Jennifer Lentz will take the lead as that school’s principal.
Rick Vanhoy, assistant principal at West Rowan Middle School, will become principal at Erwin Middle School. Vanhoy also has served as assistant principal of East Rowan High School.
Koontz Elementary School’s new principal will be Mary Hemphill. She is currently employed by Iredell-Statesville Schools as assistant principal of curriculum and instruction at Statesville High School.
