‘Sleepy Hollow’ was positive experience
I recently had the privilege of working for Fox’s TV show pilot “Sleepy Hollow,” doing the stand-in role for Tom Mison, who played Ichabod, the lead character. My experience was very positive with the cast and crew, and during filming there was an admiration for Salisbury that came from most everyone on set. I believe that should the show return to our town for future filming, with the right planning and communication our town could profit greatly.
What I see that the show has already brought to Salisbury is the name association with the classic tale “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving. In many ways, I believe that’s actually bigger than the show itself.
This seems to be a great chance to market Salisbury with a new slant, i.e. food and drink specials with “Sleepy Hollow” names and perhaps local shops could stock up a little more on headless horseman and associated apparel. Might not hurt for someone to get a headless horseman costume ready for a future “Night Out” that could feature our streets as portrayed in the already picked-up pilot.
Anything new like this will always lend itself to unforeseen dilemmas. However, through these series of fortunate events, I feel that Salisbury has more to gain than anything lost.

Be more thankful
I’m concerned about the ACLU and the fact it is trying to stop county commissioners from praying in Jesus’ name.
Just because two or three people have complained, I think the ACLU is using that for an excuse and making a big deal out of it. They will use anything they possibly can to try to destroy Christianity because they don’t believe in the Bible and trust God for answers.
People should be glad they have commissioners who want only the best for Rowan County. When we pray and ask God for wisdom and to help us be in his will and make the right decisions in doing our job, it is not for show or to make ourselves look good. It’s so we know we are doing what’s best for our community.
We need to be more thankful for men like this who will stand up for God and right!
If they don’t pray in Jesus’ name, that would defeat the purpose of prayer. Keep in mind that no one but God can answer prayers.
