Mayfest celebration starts next week at the Rowan County fairgrounds

SALISBURY — Mayfest 2013 will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rowan County Fairgrounds, 1560 Julian Road.
The event, which features carnival rides, a petting zoo, food, crafts and vendor displays, will run through Sunday, May 19.
The nightly entertainment schedule is as follows:
• Wednesday — Darrell Harwood

• Thursday — Divided by Four
• Friday — Wayward Reason

• Saturday — Strings of Victory
• Sunday — Heirs of Salvation

The Stars of Nojoe’s Circus will be at to Mayfest this year.
The circus has been a fairgoers fan favorite for years.
Their shows have grown each year as has their reputation in the entertainment industry.
During the past year, the traveling troupe has traveled to 13 states and performed more than 700 shows nationwide.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Admission is $3 per person. Children younger than 3 years old can attend for free.
Thursday night is Dollar Night, sponsored by Cornerstone Church. All rides are $1 each.
Armbands will be available for $20 Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
