Prep Basketball: Rosters released for Friday’s all-star doubleheader at North

Staff report

SPENCER — North Rowan boys basketball coach Andrew Mitchell has announced the rosters for the second annual Rowan County Senior All-Star games.
The doubleheader will be played at North on Friday with the girls starting starting at 6:30 p.m. and the boys to follow at 8.
Tickets are $5 in advance in the North Rowan office (see Sallie Hundley) or at the middle school (see Ashley Poole).and $7 at the door.
The boys in the Blue-White game have plenty of well-known names.
The White team is loaded with North Rowan and Statesville seniors: Malik Ford, Devon Tate and Brandon Nelson of the Cavaliers and Breon Borders, Josh Gaither and JaQuan Warren of Statesville.
Other members are Buster Hillie and Keion Adams of Salisbury, D.J. Love of Carson and Josh Medlin of South Rowan.
The Blue team will be led by North’s all-county stars Oshon West and T.J. Bates, along with Kihrey Ellis. Also on the team are Tyler Petty of Salisbury, Tyler L’Hommedieu of East Rowan, Rameiq Howard of Carson and Jack Gallagher of West Rowan. Statesville’s Austin St. John, Marquise Williams and Marquis Willis are also on the Blue team.
Mitchell had a tougher time getting the girls to commit with only nine. So he has made it into a celebrity game, bringing back the likes of former Salisbury stars Shayla Fields and Bubbles Phifer.
The girls game will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness and the boys will benefit families dealing with autism. Any breast cancer survivors or autism families can get in free by calling 704-636-4420, extension 141 by Thursday afternoon.
