What qualities do you think the next Rowan-Salisbury School System superintendent should have?
With Dr. Judy Grissom retiring Sept. 30, the Board of Education is asking for community input.
The school system is asking community members to respond through a survey, either online or in a hard copy that can be mailed to administrative offices.
For the online survey, click here.
And for a downloadable PDF (a hard copy), click here.
Hard copies will also be available at the Rowan-Salisbury Schools Administrative Offices, community centers, libraries, and as advertised through the local news media outlets.
The online survey must be completed in a single online session, partial responses cannot be saved for later completion. Surveys may only be completed once from a single IP address/computer.
All surveys are anonymous.
To submit a hard copy survey, mail or turn in your survey to: Bonnie Holder, Executive Assistant, 314 N. Ellis Street, Salisbury, NC 28144
Deadline is May 21.
“The results of these surveys will help to shape the search and decision-making processes,” a school system news release said. “The Board encourages all stakeholders to assist in defining the qualities and characteristics of the next exceptional leader for the Rowan-Salisbury School System. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions.”
The school board is conducting its search for a new superintendent through the North Carolina School Boards Association, advertising in newsletters, on websites and with the American Association of School Administrators.
The application deadline is June 3 and the position start date is Oct. 1.
According to a tentative timeline, the school board will narrow down the field of candidates in late June, begin its first round of interviews in mid-July and hold final interviews in mid-August. It tentatively plans to announce its choice for superintendent on Aug. 26.
