John Henderlite has opened a financial advisory office at 225 North Main St., Suite 408 in Salisbury.
Henderlite’s securities registration is now with ING Financial Partners.
Services offered include investment securities brokerage, mutual funds, employer sponsored and individual retirement plans, advisory accounts, annuities, life and long term care insurance, and employee benefits.
“Each individual circumstance is unique and determining what investment alternatives are suitable for that circumstance is one of the most, if not the most, important duties a financial adviser should provide,” he said. “Salisbury is home and I look forward to continuing my professional service work here in this community.”
A lifelong resident of Salisbury, Henderlite has served on the board of Rowan Regional Medical Center, the Rowan County YMCA, and has been president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Salisbury Rotary Club. He served two terms on the Salisbury City Council.
He is a member of First Presbyterian Church and is a 1977 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College.

Leadercast 2013 on May 10

The Event Center at Cornerstone Church will take part in the Chick-fil-A Leadercast 2013 on Friday, May 10, starting at 9 a.m.
The Chick-fil-A Leadercast features a lineup of speakers such as Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of General Electric; Condoleezza Rice, former secretary of state; and Mike Krzyzewski, basketball coach at Duke University.
Early registration through April 28 is $79 each, or $69 if you have a group of 10 or more. Tickets are $10 more after that.

Food Lion launches ‘Hunger Has a Cure’
SALISBURY — Food Lion launches its “Hunger Has a Cure” campaign to support Feeding America and its network of local food banks. The two-week campaign, which allows customers to donate in $1 or $3 increments at the register, runs through April 16.
“We know that it’s difficult for some families to provide food during the summer, especially since it’s a time when food donations typically drop while hunger needs increase,” said Sherrii Webb, manager of community relations for Food Lion. “Funds raised through this two-week ‘Hunger Has a Cure’ campaign will provide critical food assistance for local families in need.”
Funds will then be donated to Feeding America, which is able to help provide eight meals per every $1 donated.
Last year, Food Lion’s “Hunger Has a Cure” campaign donated more than $650,000 and 1.1 million pounds of food.

Carolina Farm Credit to issue checks
STATESVILLE — Member-borrowers of Carolina Farm Credit will receive patronage refunds checks totaling $14.7 million, according to CEO Michael R. Morton.
Borrowers will receive a refund of 20 percent of the interest that accrued on their loans in 2012. A cash refund of $4.4 million will be paid, and the remainder will be placed in allocated capital accounts for future revolvement.
“Carolina Farm Credit had another successful year in 2012,” said Joe Lail, chairman of the Carolina Farm Credit board. “This is the 25th consecutive year we’ve paid a patronage refund.”
