SALISBURY — Law enforcement officials have added another charge for a Gaston County woman already in the Rowan Detention Center on charges of bilking local businesses out of thousands in merchandise with bad checks.
Rowan County officials served an arrest warrant for Iredell County officials on Marsha Gail Holmes, 48, of Cloninger Road, Dallas, with felony obtaining property by false pretenses. Officials say Holmes and Casey Lee Armstrong, 26, went to several businesses with a check to buy furniture. The two told store personnel they were mother and son, but investigators haven’t confirmed the relationship.
Holmes was placed in the Rowan County jail March 13 and was released two days later. She was arrested again March 29 on a probation violation from South Carolina. Iredell officials charged Holmes on Monday.
Holmes has pending charges from Gaston and Iredell counties, each for felony obtaining property by false pretenses and felony conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses.
