SALISBURY — Authorities found a local teen inside a Salisbury motel after her father reported she’d been missing for some time. The 17-year-old was charged with drug possession. Samantha Michelle Childers, of Hill Street, was charged with one count simple possession of a controlled substance and one count possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
The Salisbury Police spoke with Childers’ father, who said she had been missing for about a month, but that she regularly went missing for long periods of time. The father told authorities he believed his daughter was using drugs.
Law enforcement found Childers Saturday at the Economy Inn on Bendix Drive around 11 p.m. She was inside a motel room with a woman who’d checked in to the motel. The father arrived at the motel.
Officers seized a 4 grams of marijuana, a pipe with marijuana residue under a bed, two razor blades and a straw with white powder residue on it in a trash can. The women told the officer the straw and razors were there before they checked into the motel. Childers was charged with possession of those items. Childers has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond.
