Program cancelled

The 9 a.m. Easter service will include Brian Calvo lighting the Easter Hallelujah Candle, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Outreach Christian Ministries

Outreach Christian Ministries presents “Women of the Upper Room” Easter production at 6 p.m. today.
The performance is by the Parables Drama Group. It is written and produced by Minister Linda Hunt, coordinator for Theater Arts at Livingstone College.

A joint sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. Sunday at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church.

Calvary Baptist Church will hold a sunrise service Sunday at 7 a.m. under the arbor beside the fellowship hall.

FAITH — Shiloh will host the annual Faith Community Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Joe Smith of Faith Baptist Church will brings the message.

RICHFIELD — Mt. Zion Lutheran Church will celebrate Easter with two special services Sunday.

Providence UMC

Providence United Methodist’s sunrise service at Dan Nicholas Park starts at 7 a.m. at the amphitheater. Breakfast follows at the church fellowship hall at 8 a.m. with eggs, pancakes, bacon, grits, coffee and juice.
This is an outdoor service, so dress accordingly, and bring a blanket, seat cushions, etc.
If the weather is inclement, the service will be at Providence Church.
Guest speaker for sunrise Service is the Rev. Fred Jordan, Western NC Conference Coordinator of Camping Ministries.
Music will be led by First Light Praise Team. Providence will also have a combined First Light and traditional service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Love Christian Center

EAST SPENCER — Love Christian Center’s Easter Sunday service is at 11 a.m., with music, dancing, spiritual food and activities for the kids.

Sandhills Teen Challenge coming to Destiny City
SALISBURY — Destiny City (Church) will welcome the Sandhills Teen Challenge on Sunday.
Teen Challenge is a residential faith-based recovery program in Carthage for men ages 18 years old and older with a drug or alcohol problems.
The ministry team has a life-changing message that they bring through music, drama and personal testimonies.
The public is invited to the dynamic and uplifting service at 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at the Harriet Tubman Theater on the campus of Livingstone College, 701 W, Monroe St. in Salisbury.

Easter at First Presbyterian Church begins at 8:30 a.m. with worship in the sanctuary, featuring the Bell Tower Ringers, Resurrection Brass and Sanctuary Choir.
At 8:50 a.m. in Lewis Hall, the Life Center Worship Praise Team will lead song.
Light refreshments will be available at 9:30 a.m. in the courtyard, followed by the results from the ‘Feed the Fish’ fishing tournament.
A butterfly release is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in the courtyard. Our caterpillars grew from newly hatched larva, then the formation of their chrysalis, to rebirth into beautiful Painted Butterflies.
During the 11 a.m. service, the Bell Tower Ringers, Resurrection Brass and Sanctuary Choir will again lead worship.

St. Luke Baptist

St. Luke Baptist Easter sunrise services are at 6:30 a.m. and will be held at Ardis Chapel. Breakfast will be served afterward.
Worship at St. Luke will start at 10 a.m. Praise and worship starts at 9:45 a.m.
Immediately following the worship service, there will be an Easter egg hunt at St. Luke. Please bring items for the egg hunt.

Fish fry fundraiser

Community Baptist Church will host a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
A plate includes flounder, fries, slaw, hushpuppies, drink and dessert.

St. Matthew’s turns 175

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road., will celebrate its 175th anniversary Sunday, April 14.
The celebration will begin with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an outdoor picnic lunch.
The church history committee, chaired by Beverly Ludwig, has spent the past two-and-a-half years researching the history of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and as part of this celebration the church has published a 480 page copyrighted hardbound book of this history from 1838-2013.
The history book, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 1838-2013, 175 Years will be distributed following lunch to those who have purchased a book.

As part of the year-long celebration, a congregational pictorial directory has just been published.
The day’s events will conclude with Music in the Family Life Center at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Hinshaw Family from Durham.
