RCCC Tour de Campus 5K coming up Saturday

The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Alumni Association is presenting the Tour de Campus 5K on the Salisbury Campus on Saturday, March 16. This race is part of the 50th anniversary celebration for RCCC. Another 5K will be held on the RCCC South Campus on Sept. 21. The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and a half mile fun run for kids, 12 and under, will start at 9:45 a.m.
The Tour de Campus 5K is for the most part a trail race, and will use the new walking and running trail that has recently been constructed on the 100-acre Salisbury campus. The race is for competitive and recreational runners, as well as walkers. Walkers are encouraged to participate.
Awards will be presented to overall winners and in fourteen age groups for both males and females. All participants in the 5K will get a dri-fit shirt and pre-registered kids in the fun run will receive a shirt as well. Plenty of refreshments will be available after the races.

Also on tap for next Sunday is the Knox Middle School Shamrock Shuffle 5K and half mile fun run. This race will be run on the course that starts at Knox Middle School, traverses the Greenway to Eagle Heights, loops that neighborhood and returns to finish on the track at Knox. The fun run is two laps around the track. Start time for the 5K is 2:30 p.m. and the fun is set for 3:15 p.m.
